Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst™ (BCaBA)

This program is for students who are interested in pursuing certification in behavior analysis. The Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.® has approved our course sequences as meeting the coursework requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst Examination® or the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst Examination®. Applicants will have to meet additional requirements to qualify.

Class Type, License, & Certification

ONLINE/HYBRID PROGRAM: Primarily online courses with up to two face-to-face meetings each semester. Online courses may include synchronous class sessions in the early evenings. Neighbor island candidates travel to Oahu on select Saturdays. Face-to-face meetings will include an option to meet online for candidates outside of the state.

BCaBA Course Sequence (12 credits)

SPED 603: Principles of Behavior
• SPED 446: Introductory Topics in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• SPED 462: Assessment, Planning, Instruction for Severe/Autism
• SPED 671: Advanced Applied Behavior Analysis (pre-requisite: SPED 603)
May be taken while pursuing a bachelor's degree

University Practicum (Optional) UH Manoa is a BACB-approved university practicum provider for supervision towards the BCaBA certificate. You must have begun the appropriate program to be enrolled in practicum supervision. Available to candidates on all Hawaii islands. All supervision requirements can be completed by enrolling in 2 credits of university practicum for 3 semesters (BCaBA).
