Overview

What makes a computer a computer? A computer consists of many complex components working together to complete tasks. In this lesson, students will learn about computer systems by making connections between systems we already understand, namely the human body systems. 

Students will explore various types of computers, identify the different internal and external components of a computer, and learn the differences between hardware and software.

  • Define the word “System”
  • Describe examples of systems 
  • Distinguish the difference between hardware and software
  • Identify external and internal components of a computer
