In 2022, it is estimated that over 15,000 residents in Hawai‘i are homeless. These residents are disproportionately Native Hawaiian. Building affordable structures could help some of these residents get back on their feet. One recommendation is to build thatched hales. The geometry of triangles is necessary to build these and other structures. Another recommendation is to allow the homeless to sleep in their cars in public parks.
