The first lesson consisted of the students learning the rules of the STEAM room, term project requirements, and equipment available in the room. In the second lesson, students learned about invasive plant species and how to identify them on a nature walk in the forest near our school. Students downloaded and used the iNaturalist app to help them identify native and invasive plant species in our local area. Class discussion focused on how invasive plant species are affecting our native plant species in Kahnawake and how we can help reduce the spread of invasive plants in Kahnawake.
