The four basic transformational operations are visible in daily life. The goal here is for students to recognize when transformations are used and where they are visible in their lives outside of the mathematics classroom. What skills or jobs use transformation? Do you see them in structures or nature? How do we describe them with both language and mathematics? Do the ways that we describe transformations deepen our understanding of the mathematics? The main goal here is for students to recognize and be able to describe when they see transformations happening.
