Dewey Gottlieb is the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) State Coordinator in the Hawaii Department of Education. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and as the Past-President of the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics (ASSM). He previously served as Hawaii’s Educational Specialist for Mathematics for 10 years, providing leadership for mathematics curriculum, instruction and assessment. In addition, he was a high school mathematics teacher for 14 years (3 in Ohio and 11 in Hawaii) and served as a district-level mathematics resource teacher for 4 years. Dewey was the first teacher in Hawaii to earn National Board Certification in secondary mathematics and he is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and the Milken Educator Award. Dewey is owned by 2 exceptionally cute Tibetan Spaniels.
