Applications are open for each spring enrollment from July 1 to Oct 1. During non-admission periods, please complete the Request More Info form to be notified of program updates and when applications open.

  • CHOOSE LICENSURE TYPE: National Certification (Note: “Add a Field” option is only for the add-a-field licensure program)
  • CHOOSE MAJOR (SPECIALIZATION TRACK): Reading Interventionist (Note: Mild/Moderate and Severe/Autism is for a separate program)
  • CHOOSE LOCATION: Which island will you be participating in the program from?

Complete Admission Checklist

  • Verify you read the Gainful Employment Information
  • Submit your UH Manoa Application once it opens: UH Mānoa
    • Important Note: This program is housed in undergraduate admissions within the Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education. Make sure to use the application link provided above and do not use the graduate application link. 
    • Choose the starting term: Spring 2026
    • Under “Your UH Manoa Plans”
      • Choose ‘2nd Bachelor’
      • Planned Course of Study = ‘Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education (Spring Only)’
      • Transfer credits – can list ‘0’
    • Request an application fee waiver – All Hawaii residents can qualify for a fee waiver, choose ‘Resident of the State of Hawaiʻi’
  • Upload copy of HTSB license in special education
  • Verify Prior Post-Secondary Program Enrollment
    • Confirm if you have ever been dismissed from a prior program

Note: If you received your degree from a University of Hawaiʻi System institution you do not need to send official transcripts (e.g., UHM, UHH, UHWO, or any Hawaii Community College).
Official transcripts for non-UH institutions must be submitted directly from the institution to UH Mānoa. For the Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education program, you are only required to submit transcripts from the institution you received your bachelor’s degree and any additional institutions you attended thereafter. Unofficial, faxed, hand-carried, or student copies of academic documents will not be accepted as official transcripts.
