Introduction to E-learning

Introduction to E-learning is a Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) designed to prepare students for the unique design challenges involved in distance education. Using his CASA framework, Dr. Mike Menchaca helps students explore and understand the relationships between educational theories, strategies and tools of their choosing. All student culminating projects and instructional material are open licensed and available to see and use.

The first MOOC at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, all course material is publicly available with a Creative Commons Attribution – ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Throughout the course, students learn about the unique challenges that exist in the realm of online learning. The true power of this MOOC comes from the peer collaboration that goes into building and sharing unique online learning designs. Each design is relevant to the student, guided by research in open journals, informed by the collective efforts of classmates, and shared for others to use.
