Dr. Xu Di (who is called Di Di) is a tenured professor in Department of Education Foundations, College of Education, University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is a member of Board of Examiners for National Council of Association of Teacher Education (NCATE. Now CAEP), which provide national accreditations for teacher education programs in the U.S. since 2007.Dr. Xu Di has more that two decades teaching and administrative experiences in teacher education, education foundations, multicultural and international education. She has published A comparison of the Educational Ideas and Practices of John Dewey and Mao Zedong in China along with various chapters and articles on teacher education, educational foundations, multicultural education, international education, and ESL education. She has presented numerous papers and chaired sessions and panel discussions at the national and international conferences of her professional fields. She has provided educational leadership training through the International Education Forum 2020 at the East West Center. She has worked as International Consultant in teacher education and educational reforms in Central Asia and Africa for the World Bank. She served on Hawaii Teacher Standard Board (2005-2008) and was the President of American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE) Hawaii Chapter and Hawaii State Representative (2006-2008). She was a Visiting Scholar and Research Associate at Philosophy of Educational Research Center at Harvard University (1999-2000), a Visiting Professor in Peking University (2009, 2004 and 1997), and an Exchange Professor at National Kaohsiung University in Taiwan (1998). She served Manuscript Editor as and Editorial Board Member for Harvard Educational Review during her tenure between 1988-1990. Dr. Xu Di was honored in Who’s who Among American Women (2006) and Who’s Who Among American Teachers (1996, 1998, 2000, and 2008) and received seven teaching awards during her tenure at University of West Florida, including Distinguished Teaching Hall of Fame (2006), Distinguished Teacher Awards (2004-2005, 1999-2000, 1995-1996), Florida Teaching Incentive Award (2004 and 1999), and Excellence Award of Undergraduate Teaching and Advising (1996).Dr. Xu Di is committed to live the philosophy she is teaching, and views herself as a learner and seeker forever. She is actively involved in community service in Hawaii as well as in the U.S. and the world through her non-profit organization, Operating Infinity. Her focus is to live an enlightened life through services to and connections with all.
