In addition to being a Ph.D. student, Allison is also a Faculty Specialist with the National Student Exchange (NSE) program at UH Manoa, which provides study away opportunities for university students. Allison has been active with NAFSA: the Association of International Educators and has been selected for various professional development opportunities, including the Baden-Württemberg Seminar (sponsored by the German Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts), the Familiarization Tour to Australia (sponsored by the Australian Department of Education, Science, and Training), and the Fulbright Award to the United Kingdom (sponsored by the Institute for International Education and the Fulbright Commission)

Research Interests

Allison is interested in applying a critical theory lens to the field of study away. Her dissertation will be a phenomenological study of the lived experiences of NSE participants at UH Mānoa.
