Career Trajectory

Prior to doing my PhD I was in the corporate world. Originally, I pursued a terminal degree to be eligible for higher-level positions at the United Nations. The simultaneous pursuit of a graduate certificate in conflict resolution at the Matsunaga Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution gave me practical skills and eventually led me on a path to an international career in educational development. The EDEF program helped me to think more broadly about the the purpose of education and the many ways that it influences and shapes citizenry — locally, nationally and globally. Moreover, it provided a framework to look critically at how history, politics and culture shape us. In hindsight, higher education made me realize that one person can make a difference in the world.
