How to Apply Instructions

Update as of October 2025: The MEd in Special Education will not be enrolling for Summer 2026 admissions. Please contact coeinfo@hawaii.edu for more details or if you’d like to explore additional program options.

Deadline to apply: Feb 1 (Priority), Mar 1 (Final)

If you would like to receive updates, notifications, and application tips, please be sure to complete the “Request More Info” form for this program to be added to the contact list. Applications typically open around November 1.

Start a new UHM Graduate Division Application (Select “Apply Here!” and choose the Summer 2027 application)

Search for program:

• Special Education – MEd (Summer)
• Choose concentration:
  • Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Leadership & Research
  • Interdisciplinary (not currently available)

Note: The ‘Deadline Display’ is incorrect – the final deadline is March 1

   2. Academic History
   3. Supporting Information
      • Complete the Questions tab and Release Statement Tab
      • For the Documents section, this is where you can upload copies of your transcripts and if you are an international student who took an English Proficiency test, you can upload those scores.
        • Otherwise, you can select “I am not adding any documents”
   4. Program Materials
      • Questions Tab: Complete your Video Recorded Responses & Essay
        • Additional demos and tips have been provided if needed
      • Documents Tab: Upload your Documents
        • Statement of Objectives
        • Curriculum Vitae or Résumé
        • Note: You can leave the additional “Supplemental Material” sections blank
      • Recommendations
        • Choose “Request New Recommendations” to add the contact information for your three references.
        • Due date for recommendation forms is 03/01/2025, however, your application will not be marked as complete until all three letters have been received.

• Submit Application and pay application fee $100 (non-refundable)
• Send Official Transcripts from each institution attended (except for UH system transcripts)
