Weaving Dreams

Established in 2012, the Tinalak Filipino Education Advisory Council is named after the hand-woven natural cloth designed from the dreams of the indigenous T´boli people of the Philippines. Symbolizing “dream weavers”, the charge of Tinalak is to envision, inspire, and weave together Hawaii’s new generation of educators through the recruitment and support of Filipinos in the education field.

Announcing the Dr. Niki Libarios #BeKindToAStudent Scholarship!

In memory of Tinalak’s Co-Founder, Dr. Niki Libarios who passed away in August 2017, the Council founded the Dr. Niki Libarios #BeKindToAStudent Scholarship.  In all of his work, Dr. Libarios lived by the motto #BeKindToAStudent. Having been a community college transfer student himself, he believed in paying it forward through kindness and empowerment.

The Dr. Niki Libarios #BeKindToAStudent Scholarship assists UHM COE students who are committed to serving the Filipino community.
