How to Apply Instructions

Note: Beginning with Fall 2027 admissions, applicants will only need to submit the UHM Graduate Division application. The College of Education Makalei application is no longer required.

Submit an application to the UH Manoa Graduate Division in the Spring semester of year 3 (Junior year) for admission to the MEd in Educational Foundations in Fall.

When completing your application, make sure to select “Educational Foundations – MEd (Fall)”

Complete all four sections:

• Personal Information
• Academic History
• Supporting Information
• Program Materials
  • Program Questions Tab
    • Indicate which track you are applying for
      • Choose: BAM: Combined BA in Ethnic Studies and MED in Foundations of Transformative Education (Fall only)
    • Indicate if you are an international student and if so, whether you plan to complete this program from Hawaii or outside the U.S.
  • Documents Tab
    • Upload Resume
    • Upload statement of objectives (Note: Be sure to indicate that you are applying to the Masters in Educational Foundations as a BAM student.)
  • Recommendations Tab
    • List references for obtaining two (2) letters of recommendation (The letters of recommendation need to be submitted by the recommenders themselves and should be on letterhead with the recommender’s signature.)

To complete your application, you must pay a $100 application fee. As a current UHM student you can upload a copy of your current transcript. However, if you had also attended any colleges/universities outside of the UH System previously, you would need to send official transcripts to the university again as part of this application process.
