FREE Professional Development Opportunity! June 24, 2026 – June 26, 2026

STEMS² Symposium (3 HIDOE PD credits)

Join fellow K-12 teachers and members of the STEMS² network for a high-quality professional development experience. Hosted by STEMS² & the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Outreach College, this PD explores how to apply the STEMS² Framework to integrate the HĀ framework into our curriculum, fostering critical thinking, civic engagement, and addressing equity through student-centered learning experiences.

Course Details: This blended PD will take place alongside the 8th Annual STEMS² Symposium on Tuesday, 6/23/26, Wednesday, 6/24/26, and Thursday, 6/25/26, with events online and at place-based sites across Oahu. Through this year’s theme, Building Now for the Future We Envision, we will examine what it means to courageously fight for what must be protected and sustained, what might be reinstated after being previously displaced/hidden, and to reimagine the systems that no longer serve us. We believe this moment requires that we listen deeply and nurture relationships grounded in respect for land, culture, and one another.

Course Requirements: To receive 3 HIDOE PD credits, participants will attend all STEMS² Symposium events (June 23, 24 & 25), submit a portfolio including learning reflections and a unit plan overview, and attend two brief, online follow-up check-in meetings (August 19 & September 16).

Registration and Cost: The PD Course and Symposium registration are free!

Eligibility & Prioritization: All HIDOE teachers are welcome to sign up for the PD course and credits. Spaces will remain open until all spots are filled. To enroll in the professional development, sign up at https://go.hawaii.edu/iPo.

Custom

Institutions (e.g. complexes, schools, departments, non-profits, etc.) interested in having a custom STEMS² professional development experience can begin that process by completing our Custom PD Request Form. The information gathered in this form helps the STEMS² team identify your STEMS² related goal(s) and begins the communication process with the STEMS² team.

After completing the form the STEMS² team will work with you to learn more about your needs and context and identify possible collaborators. The STEMS² team will then design a proposal for your review, leading to implementation. If you have any questions as you begin this process feel free to contact the STEMS² program directly at stems2@hawaii.edu for further design consultation.
