How I Practice STEMS²

Education is essentially the succession and reciprocation of knowledge and understanding based on inquiry. It is the basic essence of a kanaka; to observe, process, understand, evaluate, and further question environmental and human interactions. Education is meant to enlighten students and enhance their understanding of societal and environmental construct.

I practice STEMS2 in my educational philosophy by incorporating aʻo, makawalu, moʻolelo, sense of place, and advocacy into lesson plans and curriculum design. My intention is to provide opportunities for students to develop intimate relationships to place and community through hands-on work and learning experiences.
