As an elementary PE teacher in Hawaii, practicing STEMS² means integrating science, technology, engineering, math, social science, and sense of place. In my class, I create a collaborative and inclusive environment where students explore real-world problems related to their identities, cultures, and communities. Through hands-on learning, critical thinking, creativity, and empathy, students develop solutions for equity and sustainability. I value all knowledge and foster a holistic understanding, empowering students to be thoughtful, informed, and socially conscious problem solvers.
