Title

Advocacy in the Arctic Refuge through film and education

Type

Talk Story / Paper

Description

How do we engage students with advocacy work and inspire them to take action for vulnerable people and the planet? At this presentation, I’ll share how I have been using my voice as an activist/filmmaker and using a position as an environmental educator to integrate storytelling, social and emotional learning, science and action strategies for change. I will share my experiences in documenting the Arctic Indigenous Gwich’in nation to protect their sacred place from development in the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.
