Nā Maka o Ka Iʻa: Discussing STEMS2 Pedagogy in Online and In-Person Place-based Learning Opportunities
Talk Story / Paper
This presentation will be centered around a conversation regarding the potential ways to integrate new learning opportunities, both virtual and in-person, that can support students’ engagement with STEMS2 mindsets in place-based learning opportunities. We highlight our experiences in the Nā Maka o Ka Iʻa summer program hosted at the Waikalua Loko Iʻa to support students going into 4-8th grade. We also share about our partnership between Pacific American Foundation, Ke Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Pūʻōhala School, and Northwestern University’s Ka Moamoa lab to provide opportunities for integrated sustainable computing.
