Title

Mindful Teaching and Learning Online: Contemplative Pedagogy for the Online & Hybrid Classroom

Type

Workshop

Description

This workshop will provide an introduction to a field in education known as contemplative pedagogy (CP), with a special focus on Online and Hybrid teaching environments.

Contemplative pedagogy prioritizes reducing stress in the teaching environment (for both students and teachers), incorporates mindfulness elements, increases creativity and cultivates a deeper sense of knowing. CP helps provide access to alternative ways of learning and understanding that is complementary to more rational approaches found in most traditional liberal arts education. CP is sometimes said to teach to the “whole human.” Given the challenge of our current context in a global pandemic, this approach is needed now more than ever.

This workshop is designed for faculty and teachers from all fields. We will experience several CP activities throughout the workshop! Come prepared to enjoy yourself, and relax into an atmosphere of mindful teaching and learning.
