Title

ʻUlu Education Toolkit & Hoʻopili ʻAi: Uniting Keiki & Hawaiʻi Food Crops

Type

Workshop

Description

Farm to school connects students with their food and with the ‘āina, that which feeds and nourishes us all – fostering the next generation of healthy, caring stewards. This workshop session will explore some of the tools and resources Hawaiʻi ʻUlu Cooperative has developed with community partners to make it easier for educators, school cafeterias and families to connect the farm to school movement within the lives of Hawaiʻi’s youth. We will navigate the ʻUlu Education Toolkit as well as learn about the Hoʻopili ʻAi campaign, a grassroots initiative to nourish keiki with local foods by combining taste-test opportunities with educational resources that consider our foods and food systems through the multiple lenses of culture and moʻolelo, agriculture, culinary arts, science and economics.
