Where do you work?
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at Soongsil University, Seoul, South Korea.

How did you become interested in the field of education? The Educational Psychology Program?
I was an English teacher at a middle school and a high school for eight years in South Korea. While pursuing my PhD in Second Language Studies, I was naturally drawn to learn more about research methodology in educational research.

Briefly describe your research methodologies and/or teaching philosophy.
As I focus on language testing as my area of expertise, I value both assessment for learning and assessment of learning. I usually employ quantitative methodology—particularly measurement and statistics I learned during the graduate certificate program—to answer my research questions.

How has the COE program impacted or benefited your career path?
I have strengthened my ability to conduct research focused on language testing, which often deals with quantitative data.

Is there anyone in particular who inspired you to pursue a career in education?
Dr. Seongah Im was definitely an inspiration. She guided me with her knowledge, skills, and kind heart. I felt a personal connection with her, and she has been truly supportive of my success.

What are your future plans with your degree?
I started a tenure-track position immediately after graduating from my PhD program. I hope to continue doing research to answer my questions. More concretely, I hope to publish more, edit a prestigious journal, and host an international conference.
