About
CDS is contracted by the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH) – Developmental Disabilities Division (DDD) to establish a team of interviewers for the National Core Indicators® – Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (NCI®-IDD) In-Person Surveys (ISP), which are conversations with adults receiving case management and at least one paid service from the state. NCI-IDD data is used to improve practice at the state and federal levels, shape policy, and inform strategic planning for stakeholders in IDD supports and services. Each survey cycle, the goal is to survey at least 400 participants statewide.

Principal Investigator
Lauren Lum Ho, EdD, MSW, is the Interim Director of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM) Center on Disability Studies (CDS), a research unit in the College of Education. Lum Ho has a background in social work and obtained a doctorate in education in 2023 from the University of Memphis with a focus on instructional design and technology. Lum Ho works across a variety of projects at CDS as an instructional designer to create effective, meaningful online learning environments in alignment with the course content and target audience.
