The Multilingual Multicultural Professional Practice Graduate Certificate (MMPP) is a 15-credit interdisciplinary program that educates and trains graduate students from various disciplines to exemplify multilingual multicultural awareness and understanding in their professional practices, and in collaboration with professionals from other disciplines. It is a joint partnership between the College of Education (COE). the College of Arts, Languages & Letters (CALL), and other UHM professional schools, such as the Law School, whose overarching goals are to promote social justice, equity, and sustainability.
The Sustainability & Resilience Education (SRE) Graduate Certificate is a 15-credit program that welcomes graduate students from any field who want to integrate place-based, local, global, indigenous knowledge and 21st Century sustainability research and literacies into their curriculum and instruction.
The Ethnomathematics Graduate Certificate is grounded in real-world problem-solving. It empowers teachers as leaders to be locally-minded, global citizens through a sense of purpose and a sense of place.
MEd-CS PACMED is a 30-credit, online, 2-year, cohorted track for Pacific Island educators of all age students up through undergraduate level with a focus on the education in STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) & Place-Based Curriculum. Teachers and administrators will be supported in creating culturally responsive curriculum focused on STEAM subjects. A standards-based Portfolio serves as the Plan-B “thesis” project, providing concrete evidence of the graduate’s proficiency in STEAM educational leadership. Classes are completely online, requiring a computer with microphone and speaker as well as a reliable internet connection.
