What is your current job position?

I am currently an Open Educational Resources Technologist in the Outreach College at UH Manoa

Please briefly describe the path that brought you to the LTEC program.

I had spent two years doing campus IT and computer training at an elementary school. I was then referred by the principal to complete a Masters degree in educational technology and I found the LTEC (previously  ETEC) department. I applied in order to reach the next level of academic and professionalism in my life.

How do you apply what you learned in the LTEC program to your current work?

The background set in instructional design and the critical technology I gained through the LTEC program is useful every day at work. From learning and game theory to technical tool evaluation, I have a hard time imagining a better start towards the career I am cultivating now.

How would you describe the LTEC program to others?

The LTEC program is very supportive and attentive to the needs of each learner. The LTEC department will support you as far as you want to go.

What was your favorite part of being in an LTEC program?

The safe, collegial learning environments created in each course.

What are your future plans?

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Political Science, focusing on education futures related to collaborative scholarship. I am also interested in research related to theories of technology that account for the human aspects of participation.

What advice would you have for others currently in the LTEC program?

Find or create a peer group that helps you prepare and work through the more challenging courses, and get involved in research worthy of publication sooner rather than later.

What do you hope to inspire by sharing your education experience?

I hope to inspire others to take the next step in formalizing their work in educational technology or instructional design.

I'm interested in learning more about a degree or certificate in Learning Design & Technology.
