LTEC Master's Degree, Campus-based
Our program prepares students to design, develop and evaluate learning environments, programs and resources by integrating contemporary and emerging technologies and learning principles.
LTEC Doctoral Degree, Hybrid
The LTEC department welcomes those who are interested in utilizing or expanding their knowledge into the field of Learning Design and Technology. A strong technological background is not necessary, however it will definitely assist you during your time in the program.
Online Learning and Teaching (COLT)
The purpose of COLT is to develop competent online instructors and instructional designers. The certificate program provides those who desire to deliver learning materials at a distance with the foundational knowledge and skills required to design, develop, and implement effective materials for online learning.

Woohoo! We are proud of you, Robin Dazzeo! 🥳Robin Dazzeo, an instructor in the College of Education (COE) Department of Special Education (SPED), won a lesson design competition held by the Journal of Technology-Integrated Lessons and Teaching (JTILT). A peer-reviewed, open-access journal, JTILT publishes technology-rich learning representations for PK–16+ professionals and is sponsored by the Teacher Education Division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT).
“This award is particularly meaningful as it validates my commitment to bridging special education and learning technology in innovative ways,” Dazzeo said. “As a SPED instructor and LTEC doctoral student, I’m passionate about developing inclusive, technology-enhanced learning solutions to benefit all students, particularly in developing crucial skills like writing and self-assessment.”

Congratulations!
Last week, LTEC Master’s student Takuya Tamaki conducted a successful hybrid training session on Rise 360. The purpose of this training was to introduce attendees to Rise 360, part of the Articulate e-learning development platform. This interactive training incorporated Rise 360's technological features that provide online resources and virtual course platforms. In total, the session had six in-person attendees, 15 online attendees, and a special guest, Moku the Portuguese Water dog!
Thank you to everyone who participated and mahalo AECT-HI for sponsoring this event! Special shout out to Takuya for taking the time to conduct this training. We hope that you learned something new from Rise 360 and potentially use this platform in your LTEC classes!

LTEC Associate Professor Dr. Dan Hoffman was featured prominently in a Civil Beat article about Computer Science K–12 education in Hawaiʻi. Hoffman discusses the state mandate requiring all Hawaiʻi schools to offer computer science by the end of the 2024– 25 academic year, indicating that Hawaiʻi is making progress and that there is a need to assess the quality and accessibility of its classes.
Hoffman states, “Approximately three quarters of Hawaii schools offer computer science classes, but it’s still unclear how these courses are impacting students’ career choices and future interests…”
