The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa College of Education (COE) continues to be listed among the top 100 graduate schools of education in the nation. The college is listed as 69th of 256 schools in the 2018 U.S. News Best Graduate Schools edition. For more than a decade, the COE has been in the top 100 teacher preparation schools and remains at the top for funded research, having been awarded more than $17 million in contracts and grants in 2016.

“The College of Education provides top quality degree and certificate programs, preparing future teachers, athletic trainers, educational leaders, and educational researchers,” Dean Donald B. Young said. “Our students and faculty are among the best anywhere in the country as this recognition validates.”

Nationally accredited since 2000, the COE was recently ranked in College Choice’s 25 Best Special Education Degrees for 2017 for its Bachelor of Education in Exceptional Students and Elementary program. And, the COE is proud to call three 2016–17 Milken Educator Award winners, as well as three 2017 University of Hawai‘i Distinguished Alumni recipients, College of Education alumni.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on surveys and statistical indicators, including quality, peer, and superintendent assessments; student selectivity; faculty resources; research activity; mean GRE verbal and quantitative scores; acceptance rate; student-faculty ratio; faculty awards; doctoral degrees granted; overall rank; and specialty rankings.
