Brief BiographyVenenciano is a mathematics education professor with interests in curriculum research and development and professional development for teachers. Her research focuses on how children develop mathematical concepts that contribute to the preparation for the successful study of algebra. Venenciano is a cofounder of the Math Teachers’ Circle of Hawai‘i, a statewide professional learning community for all mathematics educators. She has also developed strong partnerships with the Hawai'i Department of Education. Her recent projects include the development of course materials for the HIDOE course Modeling Our World I, elementary grades curriculum research and development on the Measure Up project, and chairing the organization of a bid to host the International Congress on Mathematical Education in 2020.
