Since September 2019, Hawaii News Now has been airing a series of education pieces, centered around the UH System’s Be a Hero. Be a Teacher. campaign. Segments have showcased the many ways the college, university, and state are working together to recruit, train, support, and retain Hawai‘i’s teachers.
The latest segment, which aired on February 19, 2020, is from the perspective of a parent who has children in Hawai‘i’s public schools. Watch COE Administrative Specialist Marilou Matsuura talk about her experiences.
Other featured programs include the COE’s Grow Our Own teachers initiative, Teacher Academies, the Minor in Education degree program, Peer Mentoring, and Hawaiian Language Immersion.
