On October 30, 2013, pizza orders made from any Pizza Hut in Hawaiʻi will benefit pre-service teachers in the College of Education Student Association (CESA) at UH Mānoa. CESA will receive 25% from every order. “As a student organization, it is important that we raise funds in order to offer professional development, community involvement, and leadership opportunities,” explained CESA Vice President Melanie Matsuda. “As future educators, we have a hand in creating the best environments for our students, one in which they can learn the skills to become community contributors in their own right.”

Next month, seven students will travel to Las Vegas to participate in the National Education Association Student Program (NEA-SP) Student Connections Conference. CESA will also team up with the Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association (HSTA) and the UH West Oʻahu Student National Education Association (SNEA) on November 23 to host the 2013 HSTA Student Program Conference, Leading the Profession. The conference will include hands-on opportunities to learn more about classroom management, the new teacher evaluations, interview tips, and more.
