2 deans of education
Dean Young and Dean Mariani signed as witnesses to the UHM-UM MOU July 2015

An international delegation from the College of Education, alongside representatives from other units in UH Mānoa such as the College of Arts and Humanities, participated in the 7th Engaging With Vietnam conference as well as the 1st US-Vietnam Forum in Higher Education on July 7th and 8th, 2015. UH Mānoa partnered with Portland State University and Hanoi University of Business and Technology in coordinating the seventh installment of the Engaging With Vietnam conference, which also coincides with the 20th anniversary of US-Vietnam normalization of diplomatic relations.

In addition to co-organizing, moderating and presenting at the conference, the COE delegation led by Dean Young also met with leadership at key Vietnamese partner institutions – both existing and new – such as the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Vietnam International Education Development, Hanoi University of Business and Technology, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi, and Hanoi Foreign Trade University.

A smaller delegation then proceeded to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a small signing ceremony with our new partner University of Malaya, followed by a meeting with the dean and department heads of the Faculty of Education to further discuss potential areas of mutual interest and collaboration.
