Happiest, Healthiest Holidays from the College of Education (COE)

The holidays are filled with hope as we prepare for a full return to campus this spring. With the health and safety of our entire COE ʻohana as our first priority, we have not only persevered throughout this challenging time, but we have continued to excel in our mission to prepare tomorrow’s leaders in education, research, and exercise science.

The college has maintained top national and international rankings, coming in 80th out of 277 schools in U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 Best Graduate Schools. During 2020–2021, our award-winning faculty and staff secured nearly $22M in grant funding and received recognition for teaching, research, advising, and innovation as well as appointments to national organizations and councils. Students and alumni were also awarded for their excellence, including 10 complex area Teachers of the Year and the 2022 Hawaiʻi State Teacher of the Year.

The COE would not be the top producing institution for the state’s teachers, educational leaders, and educational researchers without all of you – our faculty, staff, students, alumni, alumni association, advisory council, and supporters. Please accept my deepest gratitude and have a wonderful, warm, and safe holiday season.
