The second annual It’s Great to be a Teacher in Hawai‘i event took place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Leeward Community College (LCC). The goal of the event, hosted by LCC and the University of Phoenix, is for teacher preparation institutions, current teachers, and other educational leaders to work together to solve the teacher shortage problem in Hawai‘i. The College of Education was among the partners to participate in a teacher speaker panel, keynote address, breakout sessions, and exhibits/info tables. Well over 200 participants attended to learn how to start a career as a part-time teacher or transition into a full-time teaching role. The event was covered on KITV4 News and has received very positive feedback from attendees.
