Office of College Development
About Us
The Office of College Development and Alumni Relations is a unit in the College of Education whose purpose is to advance the College’s mission of teaching, research and service by:
- Identifying, cultivating, and securing financial investments in the College, and being responsible stewards of our relationships and resources. The major responsibility of the Office is to raise an ever-increasing amount of private support to strengthen the quality of the College, in accordance with needs articulated by the academic leadership of the College, and during a time of diminishing public support. The Office is responsible for private fundraising efforts on behalf of the College and reports directly to the Dean of the College. It coordinates its fundraising activities with the University of Hawai‘i Foundation.
- Involving College alumni, faculty, students and other constituents in the life of the College. The Office of College Development works closely with the College of Education Alumni Association in pursuing these goals.
- Providing high-quality programs that are responsive to the needs of our constituents. Recognition is provided to donors and/or scholarship recipients each year at the College of Education Recognition Dinner, held in the Fall and the Scholarship Reception, held in the Spring. The Office of College Development also cooperates in the planning of other events for faculty, alumni and students, as requested by the dean.
- Informing our constituents of the College’s accomplishments, challenges, and priorities, thereby gaining their support for the College. This goal is achieved primarily through publication of Current Perspectives, the College newsletter through estate planning seminars and one-on-one meetings.
