WHERE IN HAWAII IS OUR RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST?

Our College of Ed Recruitment Specialist, Janet Kim, works tirelessly to ensure that everyone is provided the opportunity to learn about what the COE has to offer, and is a strong advocate for more access for all across the state.

In the Where in Hawaii is... series we take a look at the different places our faculty, staff, and students venture to- whether its a place-based activity of their program of their favorite place to unwind! Many of our programs are offered statewide, meaning we are incredibly privileged to have the opportunity to get diverse perspectives of all the islands of Hawai‘i! 🌺

Apply for the Cooke Foundations Beautification Award! 
The Cooke Foundation believes children deserve to be surrounded by beauty, and that a beautiful environment at school is conducive to learning and encourages respect for one’s school, oneself, and others. A Hawaii public or charter school may apply for a Beautification Award in recognition of work done to enhance its campus’ appearance.

Three grants of $5,000 each will be awarded, likely to an elementary, middle and high school.

Applications are due Monday, February 3, by 4:00 pm! Visit the Cooke Foundation website for more information!  https://bit.ly/4h5ruiV

Assistant Professor Marija Čolić, in the College of Education (COE) Department of Special Education (SPED), was elected to serve as a legislative chair for the Hawaiʻi Association of Behavior Analysis (HABA). Elected by HABA members, she began her three-year term this month.

“During my term, I aim to advocate for policies that support keiki with disabilities and their families,” Čolić said. “I hope to contribute to the growth and sustainability of behavior analysis services in our community by fostering collaboration between practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders. My ultimate goal is to ensure that legislative efforts translate into improved access and quality of care for those who need it most.”
