A day filled with movement and mindfulness: hiking to catch the sunrise, studying at Campus Center, lifting at the gym, and unwinding with yoga in the Japanese Garden. Grateful for this life at UH Mānoa🌺🌞💪🧘‍♀️ #SMAP #kinesiology #uhmanoa #dayinmylife #hawaii ... See MoreSee Less

Happy Aloha Friday!

Happy Aloha Friday! 🌺
Today we want to highlight an inspiring news story featuring Sabrina Gill (shown on the right), a Graduate Assistant at the Center on Disability Studies (@cdshawaiiedu), who volunteers with a group of students as American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters at UH Athletic events. A highlight of this work mentioned by Sabrina is helping to build awareness among hearing fans and has fueled her passion for making spaces more accessible for everyone. Amazing work by these students and thank you for helping to make all spaces more accessible!

Come with the College of Education MEdT Cohort 72 to an in person saturday class at Moku o Lo’e!
Cohort 72 is a statewide cohort for the Master of Education in Teaching program, we have teachers from all across the islands of Hawaii who meet one saturday a month to get together and learn!
This Saturday cohort 72 went to Moku o Lo’e , a small island in Kāneʻohe Bay, Oʻahu, famous as a marine research facility for the University of Hawaiʻi’s Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB). Originally a private estate with a zoo, it was transformed into a scientific hub and was famously featured in the opening of Gilligan’s Island. The island is a center for marine research, with public tours and educational programs available.

As teachers this was a great experience If you are looking for an in-depth marine biology expedition for your students , this program is where keiki can become “marine biologists” during a 3-hour program consisting of a lab activity based on common research techniques used in Kāneʻohe Bay, followed by a short walking tour of the island to view one of the shark enclosures and the invertebrate observation/touch table.
